Cohen Foundation Grant

Harboring Hearts is honored and grateful to be receiving a $25,000 grant from the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Foundation! The foundation is committed to philanthropy and community services and gives to organizations that improve children’s healthcare and education, serve the underserved, support the arts, protect the environment, and further Lyme and tickborne disease research. Their grant was given in honor of World Heart Day!

This grant will be used to support heart patients and their families through the Harboring Hearts Emergency Fund. The Emergency Fund provides emergency housing, transportation, and food to transplant and cardiac surgery patients and their families. In recognizing that having family close by aids in healing, this support is meant to be a safety net for families during their critical time of need. The generosity of the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Foundation will not only allow the Emergency Fund to continue but to expand and thrive.

We want to say thank you to the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Foundation from all of us at Harboring Hearts for allowing us to continue impacting the lives of heart patients and their families. Their support will allow us to help more cardiac surgery and transplant patients over the next year!

Charity Spotlight on Harboring Heart’s #STARTARYOT

Happy #FundraisingFriday everyone! Today Harboring Hearts was featured on Positivexpert’s Charity Spotlight–we would like to send a big “Thank you” to Adonica Brereton for her continued support, and for her assistance in promoting our crowd funding campaign, #STARTARYOT.

We are taking part in a five-week crowdfunding initiative called the #STARTARYOT Challenge — in order to gain awareness, recognition, and most importantly dollars for our programs. The Challenge ends on September 24th and with the help of our supporters, like Adonica Brereton, we can meet our goal of $25k. To learn more about our fundraiser, visit our website here, and see what you can do to support heart disease patients and their families!

Aveeno Grant Winners!

This past year, the AVEENO® Brand launched the Be An Active Natural™ Fund to award more than $300,000 in grants to individuals and organizations that create positive change in their communities.

Co-founder, Yuki Kotani, was nominated to receive one of eight Aveeno “Be An Active Natural” $10,000 grants and won on behalf of Harboring Hearts. This is an amazing accomplishment! We are thrilled to be recognized by Aveeno, a community that shares our efforts to celebrate natural and inner beauty as well as promote an active, healthy lifestyle. Harboring Hearts is using the generous Aveeno grant to kick-off our emergency fund, which is helping heart patients and their families meet various forms of transportation and other needs.
